Just signed up with Acrobat, so excuse me I'm a total newby.  I am looking to ceate a series of forms - documents with fields for the client to fill in.  I'm not interested in this information coming back to me.  It needs to be saved securely on the clients own device and while I can purchase the pro version to create this, we need the client to be able to fill the form out and save it with the free Acrobat version. We are presently using MS Word to create this but I wonder if Adobe Acrobat may not be superior.  We want a nice clean interface for the client which protects certain parts from editing so the user can't mess it up, and only has access to the fields.  Can someone advise whether this is possible and/ or practical with Acrobat?

Yes, you can do it with Acrobat, but it's important to understand it's not an authoring tool. The layout for your form needs to be created elsewhere (Word, InDesign, FrameMaker, etc.), and then converted to a PDF using Acrobat, where you would also add the form fields for the users to fill in. When the file is done you distribute it to the end-users (via email, or by sharing it on a web-site), and they will then download it to their local computer and fill it in using the free Adobe Reader.

You can subscribe to a business plan of Adobe Sign and send out forms like these to your users.

You can also create reusable PDF  templates if this is what you're inquiring about.

When you employ Adobe Sign, the users are not required to purchase any subscription nor download and install Adobe Reader.

They can fill and sign your forms from a mobile device and even from a web browser.
