Editing in Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.1

New Here ,
Jan 10, 2018 Jan 10, 2018

I use to happily delete text or images using Adobe 8.0 Pro until a few days ago. I got a message saying their servers are retiring & I must unistall & re-install 8.1 pro.

I followed all the steps & did this, then restarted my windows 10 pc.

All looked good as I could combine JPGs into one PDF... but when I tried to simply delete text or an image on a pdf it would not let me.

I highligted the image as usual whist on the handtool & clicked delete, but nothing happened??

Adobe retired the Acrobat 8 activation servers. You will need a completely new installer _AND_ a new serial number. See here for more information: Activation or connection error when starting CS3 or Acrobat 8

If you've done that, and you are still having editing problems, check to see if the PDF file you are trying to edit does actually allow edits. You can find out on the Document Information dialog (Ctrl-D or Cmd-D), then go to the Security tab. Are there any restrictions listed?

Many thanks, but I did get a new serial number & followed all instructions on uninstalling 8.0 pro & then installing 8.1 pro.

Ctrl+D shows no restrictions.

I even tested older pdfs docs from 2017 that I know I was able to edit on pro 8.0, but it will not let me edit it on pro. 8.1

So still stuck, any other ideas please?

It was never the hand tool to select images for deletion. Maybe the Touch-up tool.

Sorry, yes I mean the tool to the left of the hand, it looks like at arrow (pointing to 11 on a clock face).

Adobe helpline told me to install it again & delete all files associated with it & then use their clean up tool & then re-install it.

I tried that it still doe not work, maybe I did not find all files in delete?

The instructions were:

Delete Adobe Folder from this Locations:

Locations: C- drive-Programme file- Adobe

Locations: C- drive-Programme file- Common files-Adobe

Locations: C- drive-Programme file x86:- Adobe.

Locations: C- drive-Programme file x86:- Common files:Adobe.

But I cant find the hidden files in teh step below

Locations: C- drive- Programme Data(This is hidden file it wont show directly in your c-drive you have to open your Hiddens files then it will show) Programme Data- Delete Adobe.

So maybe it did not delete all files before I re-installed?
