Excel is not open at all but Install Error keeps telling me to close Excel

I'm having trouble installing Adobe Acrobat DC Pro. The installer keeps telling me to close Excel but Excel is not open at all. I've restarted my computer multiple times and have ended all Microsoft products using Task Manager, but I still get the error message. Help? Thanks in advance!

Hi,

check if the file association for the Acrobat setup program is defaulted to open with MS Excel and change to the appropriate application.

Thanks for your answer! I checked the Excel defaults, only .xls, .xlsx, and .csv are set to Excel default. The setup program is indeed defaulted to open with CC. Still doesn't work.

Ok, I need a little more info about your operating system version, MS Office version, and adobe acrobat pro version;

Also indicate  if you are using Acrobat with other Adobe apps that are part of the Creative Cloud plan.

Is your subscription just for Adobe Acrobat or do you have CC subscription plan?

In the meanwhile, check if the problem gets resolved by disabling dynamic data exchange in the Excel application.

To check and disable DDE in MS Excel refer to the following Microsoft support guidance:
