Extract and save pages from one PDF multiple times to one specific folder

I used to use the Extract feature at an old job but maybe I'm a little rusty, but can someone help show me the steps to extract a few pages and save that as a new file in one folder and go down the entire big file save a few pages at a time into the new folder?  I have over 400 pages to extract 2-4 pages at a time.

Select the pages in the Pages panel (by holding Ctrl for individual page selection, or Shift for a range), then drag them and drop onto a folder, or even the desktop. It will create a new file with just those pages.

PS. This kind of task can often be automated using a script, if there's a way of determining where each records begins (or ends)...
