Is there a way to extract text from an already highlighted document without having to pay for additional software?

Which appliation are you using ? (i.e. which appliction are you highlighting the text in?

Depends. Did you enable the option to copy the selected text into the highlights before creating them? If so, then you can use the Summarize Comments command to do it. If not, you'll need to write your own script to extract this text and then export it.
