Form editing, Weird problem entering text into forms

When trying to fill out a Health Canada form, the typed text doesn't enter properly. 

I type e.g. "Insert Applicant Name Here", but what translates into the form looks like more like this "?nsert ?pplicant ?a?e ?ere" I show a "?" in this example, but what displays is a box, which I cannot find in any std character list. Funny enough, if you copy the jibberish and paste in Word, the correct text appears. 

Frustrating, and no clue how to fix this fast.

Could you please share the screenshot of the form showing how the text appears? You may share the screenshot of the sample PDF form. Please confirm if the issue occurs with other PDF forms too. 

Share Acrobat and OS versions you are using on the machine.
