Highlight and copy text in Acrobat Pro DC?

Every month I open last month's invoices, copy account information, and paste it into the accounting system as I create new invoices. But ever since we upgraded to Acrobat Pro DC, I can't seem to highlight existing text? Nothing about the documents themselves has changed, so why can't I figure out how to copy these lines? They are long and complicated and having to manually type them is a pain. I've tried the Edit options, Comment options, Recognize text - no matter what I do, when I try to highlight these lines, half the page gets copied and gibberish pastes.

It's very likely that something did change in the way these files are produced.

The best way to test that is to open an old file and see if copying from it still works. If so, then the files are different now.

If not, then the issue could be with the application.

😮 You're right!! Oh dear, now I have to figure out why they are saving
that way.
ETA: I figured it out! I've been selecting "print to pdf" but looks like I
need to "save to pdf."
Thank you so much for your suggestion! I was extremely frustrated.
