Hosting Interactive PDFs Online

Community Beginner ,

Hi all -

Hopefully this is the correct location for this question! I've seen some questions posted here regarding online intearctive PDFs and it sounds like it may not be possible. I create Interactive PDFs in InDesign where there are objects that act as buttons - when clicked, they take the user to a specific web page.

The interactive buttons work pefectly offline in Acrobat but I would like to host these PDFs online too, and have them retain their Interactivity (ability for the buttons to still operate). I've been browsing the web, but I can't seem to find a host/tool that allows for this. Does anyone have any idea if this is possible?

Thanks!

This is not something you can set up on your end. You just upload the PDF to your website and link to it.

The user's browser then decides what to do with it: Open it in a plugin inside the browser's window, or open it using an application on the local computer, or save it, etc. At that point it's out of your hands, and if the user opens the file in a non-Adobe application the chances are it won't work correctly.

The best you can do is add instructions to the user to save the file locally and then open it using Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
