How do I return to document?

I do not have a "document button" on my bar that has no name.  It is the grey area that has Home and Tools.  But no Document . When I edit or use any tool, how do I get back to the document?  Right now I have to save, close the file and reopen it.  The tools used to drop down from the right and there was a document choice, that is gone, which returns me to the document and out of the tools actions.

I have wasted enough time with Tutorials and help with no results.  And I don't expect a quick answer. 

Oh well, need I say more?

Sorry to keep you waiting. 

The "Document" tab within Adobe Acrobat should appear by default. Similarly like "Home" & "Tools" 

If its not there, then there are two possibilities-

1- The application's installation is corrupted. 

Solution- Run this cleaner tool for the application removal: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html  and download once again.

2- The document you have opened, doesn't have the file name and Acrobat preferences says that "Always use filename as document title".

Solution- Please check if Open Acrobat>Edit >Preferences>Documents has "Always use filename as document title" checked or not.
