How to convert Word to PDF with SharePoint metadata

When using SharePoint for documentmanagement, SharePoints adds metadata from the Library to the Word Open XML docs file. With Word you can add custom properties to a word file but these are stored in a different xml file, docProps\custom.xml. SharePoint puts the metadata in xml files in the customXml directory. It seems to be that Acrobat can only convert the metadata from custom.xml but not the metadata from SharePoint from the customXml directory in the docx file.. 

Does somebody knows how to convert the SharePoint metadata in a Word document to PDF/A?
Many tells me it is important for long term archival of documents independent of a achivesystem to store the metadata in the PDF/A format itself, the format is designed for it. 

If Acrobat does not support this who does?

The question is not what SharePoint can do but what Acrobat can do in the conversion from MS Word to PDF. It seems that Acrobat does not include all document properties in the conversion to metadata in PDF. In the Open XML file different types of properties are distinguished, core properties, old style "user-defined" custom properties and new-style custom (business specific) properties also known as "content type properties" or "SharePoint properties" because they are often created and populated from colums in a Sharepoint Library. It seems to be that Acrobat only knows the first two types. Is there a way to include the third type of properties in the conversion to PDF (XMP)?

As I've said in your cross-posts, you need to convert these quasi-document properties created by SharePoint into standard custom document properties in Word. Then the pdf conversion will pick them up.

See the macro posted by Greg Maxey in the Microsoft Answers Forum cross-post. It creates new traditional custom document properties from the SharePoint properties in the document.
