Hi and thanks in advance.
I have Acrobat Pro DC, on the latest Mac OS.
My printing company needs the PDF files in this format: PDF/X-1a:2001
I click on Tools --> Print Production --> Preflight
and I see 4 options for PDF/X, but they are not PDF/X-1a:2001
The options are:
a. PDF/X-1a (Coated_FOGRA39)
b. PDF/X-1a (Coated_GRACoL_2006)
c. PDF/X-1a (Japan_Color_2001_Coated)
d. PDF/X-1a (SWOP)
How can I get the PDF version that is needed: PDF/X-1a:2001 ?
Thanks again
Zorba

These are all PDF/X-1a: 2001

The difference is the output intent color profile, shown in parentheses.

Thans, JR -- that helps a lot, and I will ask the printing company, Lightning Source, which one that they want.
It gives me one question more:
I have also seen version PDF/X-1a: 2003
Is it possible to make this file from Acrobat Pro DC ?

Don't care, it's almost the same.

There are 2 different PDF/X-1a flavors:

- PDF/X-1a:2001 – such a file has to be a PDF 1.3 file.
- PDF/X-1a:2003 – such a file has to be a PDF 1.4 file but it should not contain any transparency and JBIG2 compression should not be used to compress images.

Both flavors share all of the restrictions that apply to PDF/X-1a.

The 2003 version simply came along because some newer software applications no longer supported the older PDF 1.3 file format.
