How to remove a hover over annotation from a PDF?

Hi,

I've downloaded an academic article which is a scanned PDF of the article's printed version. When hovering over the text while reading, the page name ("image n") appears as a type of annotation and I can't figure how to get rid of it. It's annoying as it obscures part of the text on the page. I've attached a screen capture of how it looks. (For some reason there's a mismatch of n-1 between the image number of the page as indicated in the Page Thumbnails panel and the hover-over number, but that shouldn't matter.)

Thanks, Donna
