Just wondering if Adobe has a solution for locking multiple PDF files with personalized passwords? Our firm uses software detailed above that creates a personalized folder for each client using their account number like the name and then deposits their personalized PDF report into the folder. Each PDF file has the same name but contents are personalized for the folder they are stored in. We want to be able to store the folders and pdf reports in our Dropbox Business Advanced account and have them locked with their specific passwords.
we need a solution to password to protect 700 or more individual pdf documents with personalized passwords. They all have the same name but are stored in a folder with the client's account number as the name.

Hi there!

I hope you are doing well.

Acrobat can help you to protect your every PDF by applying password security on it.

If you are willing to apply a password on a folder, that is something that would not be achievable. Just go through this help article and see if this is what you were referring to https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/securing-pdfs-passwords.html

Sadly, that is something that can't be done directly from/within the app.

The batch process (https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/password-protect-multiple-pdf-s/td-p/8356042?page=1

The batch process (https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/password-protect-multiple-pdf-s/td-p/8356042?page=1) can be applied on multiple PDFs, but that is not going to create personalized password for each one.

You may also refer to the following help article to check how to apply PDF security using batch process:

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

I've developed a (paid-for) tool that does something very similar: http://try67.blogspot.com/2012/03/create-encrypted-copies-of-pdf-file.html

I can customize it to your specific needs if you wish to save the generated files using the same name but under different folders. You can contact me privately via [try6767 at gmail.com] to discuss it further.
