How do you create an image placeholder in a form?
Hello,
The Image Field feature is available in Acrobat Pro DC and it is available from January 10, 2017, planned update onwards. For detailed information, you can refer to What's new in Adobe Acrobat DC 2017 releases Link: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/whats-new-dc-2017.html#Jan2017
It is also available in Acrobat 2017 Classic version.
Feel free to update this discussion for any further assistance.
Regards,
Anand Sri.

What do you mean by "placeholder", exactly? What should replace it, and by who?

This Form will be a templet and the user will fill form using Acrobat Reader. I would like the user to be able to drag or select a photo (jpeg) to insert into the form.

So, do you have the latest Acrobat? It’s a recent change to Acrobat and Reader.

Dragging an image is not possible, but selecting one is. Follow the instructions provided above by Thom Parker. However, it will only work if the users have a relatively new version of Reader. If they have an old one they will only be able to import PDF files (or it won't work at all, if it's a really old version).

Use a Button, or if you have Acrobat DC, there is an image field (which is a button with the standard import image script). You can put any image you want in the field to indicate it is a placeholder. This image will be replaced if an image is imported into the button.
