Licensing error for Acrobat while Creative cloud is logged in and working fine

A few of my users have recently been having issues where Adobe acrobat will display a message about the license running on a grace period and has expired, but all other installed apps work fine. logging out/in, restarting, and deleting the library preference files don't seem to fix the issue. The only thing I found to work was to wipe every trace of adobe from the computer and reinstall it from scratch. this isn't really feasible when some users have been using half of CC's offerings. Has anybody had similar issues with a non-nuclear solution?
