Hello,
I have designed a pdf certificate with various editable text fields including, i.e. Recipient, Course Title, Date, Signature (using a digital image) and the Course Leader Name. What I would like to do is for the course leader to be able to edit the pdf using Acrobat Reader, i.e. put in the students' name etc. and to resave the pdf as a new file. This new file should have the text fields locked/read-only, so the student cannot edit them and start selling them on eBay.
Is this possible?
Regards
David

The only way to do that securely is to have the Signature field lock the fields.
It will not prevent someone willing enough from editing the file (although not with Reader), but doing so will mean that the signature is invalidated, so you could prove it was edited.
Protecting the contents of a PDF file from copying is a fool's errand, though. Don't waste your time on it.
