OCR text layer is visible and overlays text image in PDF

I have a PDF file that was created using ABBYY FineReader version 12. When it was opened by one of our users on their MAC OS X 10.11.6 using Adobe Acrobat Pro 2015.023.20056 somehow the OCR'd text layer is visible and overlays the text image creating a nasty offset double text look. This has apparently happened with several files I've provided them, which are fine until they get 'mangled' on their end. They've sent me one of the sample fines in which I see the double text effect as well when I open them. Ideas?? I'm puzzled by this as I've opened the same files I've created on several computers, including those with the same software/OS without reproducing the issue. Thanks,

It seems when you OCR the file it add text layer and make it visible over existing image.
But the issue doesn't seems on Acrobat side. As I tried to open it in Abby Fine Reader and face same issue there as well.
Is it the same file where you run OCR using Abby. Or this is the file opened and updated in Acrobat once.
Thanks.
