See viewerType. However, it is only accurate when using Adobe apps. Non-Adobe apps may do one of these

* return their own app name 

* return the name of one of the Adobe apps

* return blank

* not provide the viewerType method

* not provide any JavaScript support

* anything else

By the way, I'm assuming pdfa was a typo for PDF, not for PDF/A. If you are working with PDF/A, embedded JavaScript is absolutely forbidden.
