PDF field - not visible on screen but printable

I have a PDF template form and  I want a field on the form to be hidden from view, but printable when pdf is printed.

The user does not input any data on the form - all contents are read only.

On the General tab of the field properties window, select "Hidden but printable" from the Form Field dropdown:

Hi George - appreciate the screen shot above.  I have tried this setting and the field still displays when the form is opened.   I want it to be hidden on display, but printed on paper.

Is it visible when you're not in form editing mode? Are you able to test it in Reader?

When I'm not in form editing mode(using PREPARE)  or just using a reader the entire form shows blank fields.

I'd have to test the form myself to see what's wrong. If you can post it somewhere (you can't post a file on this forum) I'd be happy to take a look.

its a delivered W2 PDF template from Oracle/Peoplesoft.   Can I email it to you?
