Post Install from Disk Glitch

Installing Acrobat XI on a relacement Windows 10 machine from a disk. Serial number appears accepted. Program seems to have downloaded correctly, On opening program, standard prompt appears for making Acrobat PDF default reader. After answering (whether yes or no) program immediately closes. What's the problem?
