Preflight - filename too long

Hi guys,

I am running a PDF/A 1b preflight using a droplet.

I have noticed that running longer lists of files through the preflight causes the following error

The filename or extension is too long.

Capture.PNG

If I shorten the total filepath, the droplet can take more files, capping at about 800-1000 files/.

The problem for me is, that I want to run batches larger than that.

Any suggestions on workflow?

Cheers,

Cameron

Acrobat's really designed for very low volume automation, and it's pretty amazing you can get 800 at a time. You might look at the PDFToolbox product suite, of which Acrobat preflight is a cut down version.

This looks to me more as a OS limit then a utility limit. I suppose you can work around this limit by batch scripts.

Hi Abambo,

Thanks for this. That is a good pointer, I'll try doing something in powershell to process 300 or so at a time, wait for Acrobat to become idle, the process the next batch.
