Question

Printing multiple PDF files in Windows 7 at once

When I had Windows XP I could select multiple pdf files in their folder then right click to print.  With Windows 7 this option is no longer there. I have searched everywhere for a solution to this problem.  I am not sure why Adobe (or Microsoft) took this option away.  I have to print 30 to 40 invoices a day.  I now currently have to open each individual document, print, close, and move on to the next.  This is quite cumbersome.  If anyone knows of a way around this I would appreciate the help.

If no solution is available does Abode know of the situation?

Try these steps:

  • Press “CTRL+A” to select all the files in the folder
  • Right-click and select Print

Hello,

I really uunderstand the point you are making. it is really tiresome to manually give print command for every PDF file and then wait. What you need is some Bulk PDF printing software and i would recommend PrintConductor as i switched to it last month and believe thts the best thing i did. It has made the whole work so easier and faster and know the my reciept printing does not make me involved all day. Check http://www.print-conductor.com for more

for single sided printing this is what I do:

select all the pdf's

right-click

select "combine supported files in acrobat"

I combine the files but don't save the "binder"

note:  check the document order before combining,  Acrobat will often scramble the order

the I print normally from Acrobat

For double sided printing this is what I do:

(If a document has an odd number of pages, the next document will start on the back of the last page rather than a new sheet)

open "Devices and Printers Window"

double click on the printer I want to print to

open the folder where I the pdf's are

select all the pdf's I want to print

drag them into the printer window

this will also print all the documents out of order.

the only way I've found so far to print the documents in order is to drag them into the printer window one at a time which is a real pain if you have a lot of documents.  normally I don't bother, and just sort the pages once they're printed.

This forum is about Reader. What you describe only applies to those with Acrobat...

your right.  I am using Acrobat.  didn't even know I had it. I've been bugging the IT guy for Acrobat for a while.  I have no idea how long it's been installed.  I had just bugged him again last week.

reader is still set as my default.  without even realizing it, i've only been using acrobat to combine and print large files.

the only way to combine pdf's in reader is to use Adobe's online service which you have to pay for.

I'm sure there's some third party software out there.    I use bluebeam to mark up pdf's.  it's free.

don't know if it can be used to print or combine multiple files.  never tried.

the method of dragging and dropping pdf files into the printer window does work with reader. (I checked)

As I said, it prints the documents out of order which can be a pain.

I found this discussion because I was searching for a way to get the documents to print in order.  Haven't found one......yet.

This is limit of Windows 7. Try this: select 10 pdf files and right click.

I cannot even right click and print 1 file.  I still have to open it up and use the print command in Adobe Reader.
