I continue to see the message asking me to close programs in use: "Program Manager" yet when I go to Task Manager, there are no processes, apps, etc. which are running... other than the Adobe updater... and when I close that it closes the window and the update does not run.

Asus laptop
OS is Win 10 Home v 1909
OS Build 18363.1379
Intel Core i7-6500U CPU @ 2.50 GHz 2.59 Ghz
64-bit OS, x64-based processor

Thanks for any suggestions.

I had the same exact issue. The fix was to manually download the update from here...

https://ardownload2.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/AcrobatDC/2100120142/AcrobatDCUpd2100120142.msp

Then close and install the update rather than updating through Acrobat itself.

I have the same problem as you (unable to update from 2021.001.20138 to 2021.001.20140).

Waiting for a new Acrobat Patch in order to be able to update Acrobat Pro.

This fix works perfectly.

In general, download an official update and run installation manually:
