"Printer not ready" when printing to Adobe PDF

Community Beginner ,
Sep 20, 2017 Sep 20, 2017

Hello,

I have an end user who is not able to print anything to Adobe PDF. They get the message that the "printer is not ready". It will allow the user to select the location where they want to print to. However, after selecting the location they get that error message. They are using Adobe Acrobat DC. It is up to date. They are on Windows 10. This happens when trying to print from Outlook, Word, and Excel. This also happens when using a web browser such as IE and Google chrome. I have tried to run a "repair installation" but this did not work. Also tried deleting the Adobe PDF printer and then run the installation but that did not work. This has happened since installing Adobe Acrobat DC. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Erikw,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Could you let us know if you are still facing this issue when trying to print to Adobe PDF printer? If yes, please try following troubleshooting steps:

1- Update Acrobat to the latest patch by clicking check for updates under help menu. You may also download updates manually from this link: Adobe software and product updates

2- Check if AcroTray is running under background processes. In Windows 10, you can check background processes by right-clicking>task manager.

3- Try selecting Adobe PDF as a default printer under devices and printer and try again.

Feel free to update this discussion if you need any further help.

Shivam
