Is there a way to remove external links?

I'm using the comment tool to add sticky notes and underlines among other things in my pdf file, it is hard because of the web links that links to a website. Selecting 'All Files' under Protected View locks the comments and I will not be able to add or edit comments.

How do I remove the hyperlinks that lead to a website when I click on that area in a pdf file? I want to highlight a word, phrase or passage and I can't because the mouse pointer turns into a hand with a W and clicking it will open the security warning box. Whenever I tried to add a Drawing Tool or Text box the link gets in the way and I can't move it where I want to.

There is a command in the Edit PDF tool set called Remove Web Links...  It sounds as this is just what you're looking for, hopefully.

Hey Dave, thanks for the response,

I have Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and I do not get the 'Link' option, I have Version 20.012.20041.39260 and it seems like it's a plug-in. It does not look like I can get rid of the plug-in, would there be any other option?

Reader will limit things to try.  The feature I mentioned above is for Acrobat Pro DC.  Maybe go to Reader Preferences (Ctrl-K) and look in the General category.  I don't have Reader in front of me, but I think there's an option to Create links from URLs.  If so, try turning it off to see if it disables the links in the doc.  I have my doubts. The links were added either in the creation, or by someone with editing capabilities using Acrobat Pro, I'm guessing.  But I'll see if I can come up with a way.

My best,

Dave

Give this a try...

With your comment tool, move over the link, and before clicking, tap the Alt key.  I just tried this and it made the cursor change to the normal highlight (not the web link one), and then make your highlight.

Let me know if this works for you.

My best,

Dave

Not working in ReaderDC with clicking Alt, without clicking Alt highlight inadvertenly works but it's the other tools (underline, text, draw, etc.) that does not work.

Also, 'create links from url' seem to be non effective whether I check it or uncheck it. Maybe if I re-download the file with it uncheck it would work, I will try.

Hi,

Could you please try selecting the word by double-clicking between the text and drag the mouse pointer after that and see if that works for selecting the word without actually clicking the link?

Thanks
