Since update making a PDF from Mac Word the links shift locations in the pdf. The links work and are close to where the actual text link is but it does not match up. If you edit the pdf > link add/edit you see the links are not sitting where they need to go. Has anyone else experienced this issue... it is causing my company to come to a halt.

Hi there

We are sorry for the trouble. As described the links in the PDF are not in the actual place when converted from Word to PDF

Would you mind sharing the steps you are doing to create the PDF from Word?  Are you saving the file as PDF or as Adobe PDF?

Please try to create the PDF from the Adobe Acrobat DC file menu and see if that makes any difference. Open Acrobat DC > File > Create > PDF from File and see if that helps.

If it still doesn't work, please try to reset the preferences to default as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792... and see if that makes any difference.

Also make sure you have the latest version of Acrobat DC 20.12.20043 installed. Go to Help > Check for Updates.

Keep us posted with the results

Regards

Amal

The process for making the PDFs we have been following successfully for years now is:  In the word document > Create and share acrobat PDF > You can create high quality, rich and accessible PDFs using Adobe Create PDF cloud service. (Select NO) > Select for Printing > PDF is made. This has worked for quite some time until about a week ago. This process creates the text links, however, the invisible link box are slightly shifted and does not line up to the words exactly making it hard to click on them.

Doing the same process with using the cloud service creates the links correctly placed, however, all fonts/layout are messed up making this not an option. This has not changed from a week ago and has been that way for a long time.

The method you provided using Acrobat directly to make the pdf does not create links at all in the pdf. They are stripped out completely.

I tried removing all the preferences you noted and the same issue still happens with the links shifting.

Is there a way to install an older version of Acrobat to see if it is the newest update that happed a week or so ago? I know you can for Photoshop and other programs but see no way to do this. This would help confirm if the update is the issue.

If there is a person I can contact based on this thread for further assistance please let me know as I would like to get this issue figured out sooner than later.

Hi there

We are sorry to hear that and for the delay in response.

Is this a behavior with a particular Word file or with all the files? Please try with a different file and check.

If its a file specific issue please share the original Word file and the created PDF file so that we can check it at our end for testing.

You may also try creating the PDF as described in the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/how-to/create-pdf-files-word-excel-website.html and see if that helps.

Let us know how it goes

Amal

Hi,

The issue is specific with Word Mac. I have the latest OS, Word, Acrobat
and the issue is happening. The process works fine on a Windows machine. I
have loaded the older versions of the word as well as Acrobat to recreate
how it used to work and have had no luck.

The export you see here is from Word using the "Create and Share Acrobat
PDF" way. This is done locally and not using cloud services.

You will see on page 10 for instance where the links have shifted up (you
can see it more clearly if you edit pdf and add/edit links).

We have tried the method going through Acrobat itself (File, create PDF
etc) and the links work but the fonts do not load properly in this process.
For word to use the Proxima Nova correctly this has to be installed
directly on the mac vs using Adobe fonts. So this is not an option and will
not work correctly. The same happens if it is created using cloud services.
The file attache, "Doc_to_test_using_acrobat_directly" is using the acrobat
tools solution directly and you will see the font (Proxima Nova) is not
loading correctly but the links are working.

Once again, things are working great on Windows and were working on Mac
until approximately 2-3 weeks ago from what we can tell.

Thanks
