I've toiled long and hard trying to do this automatically, and have searched these forums without finding a simple solution. I've tried the suggested scripts, briss.....you name it.
Just in case anyone is struggling with the same problem, google A-PDF and look for the Page Cutter. The trial version does what i wnt (i don't know if it strips passwords or bookmarks, I've not created complicated PDF's) and I'm afraid it puts Adobe to shame in providing a simple and fast way to do it.
I write only as a very relieved Acrobat user who has finally found a simple way of doing what Adobe should have provided as a tool anyway - and don't have any connection to A PDF. I just want to try and help others.
Adobe will no doubt frown on this post for promoting 3rd party software but if they did a proper job of Acrobat, I wouldnt need to.
Or have I missed something ? I'm running acrobat XI n Win 8.1 64bit

Thanks Andrew to let us know another way. But this can be done with Acrobat as well and was discussed on forums too.
Please check:

If on a Mac there's a workaround too: http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/12305/split-a-single-page-pdf-into-multiple-pages
