SUBMIT button - there is no option to export complete PDF Form

Community Beginner ,
Jul 12, 2018 Jul 12, 2018

I tried to set up a form with a submit button that would attach the PDF format of the form to the email. All tutorials are showing 4 options in the Submit Form Selections Screen whereas I get only three options to choose from.

Here is the screenshot:

I read somewhere that I need to enable Adobe Reader Extended Rights but you can do that AFTER you set up the SUBMIT button and you can't make any modifications after that.

Can someone help me with this?

Strange. Your file works correctly for me with Acrobat Pro DC. What happens when you set the focus to the "FDF Include" option, and then press the down arrow key several times? It should cycle through the options (FDF > HTML > XFDF > PDF). I'm thinking that the PDF option just isn't showing, but that it's still there and you might be able to get to it this way.

If that doesn't work, you can try using JavaScript instead, as a test. If you need help with the script, post again.

Did you create this form in Acrobat, or something else?

Hi Nevenak,

As per the issue description mentioned above, you are facing issue when trying to prepare form in Acrobat, is that correct?

Could you try rebooting the machine once if you haven't already and check if that helps?

If that doesn't work, try repairing Acrobat using "Repair installation" option under Help menu, reboot the machine after repair and check.

Try with another pdf form and check if the issue persists. Also, would it be possible to share the pdf form you are working with to replicate the issue at our end?? To share the file here in the forums, refer to the steps given in this link: How to share a file using Adobe Document Cloud

You can also share the link via private message - How Do I Send Private Message

Let us know if you need any help.

Hi Shivam,

I repaired Acrobat using “Repair installation” and rebooted the machine, and I also created a mockup but the issue persisted – there is no option of exporting the form in the pdf format when clicking SUBMIT button.

I shared the file with you using Adobe Cloud.

Here is the link:

Thank you,

Oh , WOW! It worked! The first option – it just wasn’t showing but it was there!

And now when I opened it again, it is showing!

Thank you very much!

I’ll post this solution to the forum for other people that encountered the same issue.

Thank you again,

Nevena

That's good. You may experience something similar in other Acrobat dialogs. It looks like you have your system settings configured so that certain fonts or UI items are displayed larger, and that this is interfering with at least this dialog. Just a guess though.

I am having the same issue as described here - the last choice in the button action is PDF - and it does not show up.

ALSO - I did try this on another machine and was able to get the complete panel to show up.

BUT.....

When I insert the button, post it to the web, NOTHING HAPPENS when clicked. I have read everything I can find to try to resolve but nothing has worked. I have reinstalled both DC and Reader, tried creating the form on another computer, etc. I just can't get any action on the button to work!

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

The original file was created in Microsoft Word (2016), we then opened the file via the import on Adobe Acrobat PRO DC. We then "Prepared" the file, checking fields, etc. We then added a button, with the intent of using it to submit the Form. When we inserted the button, we set the Actions per instruction and when we tried to "Add" the email action, the entire panel does not show up. I used another fix for that I saw on the forum last week.

Once the button was inserted, I did preview it and it did open up the dialogue box asking to use Outlook or other email program. HOWEVER, when I upload the form to the internet and attempt to send it, nothing happens - I can click it but nothing happens.

We have tried Chrome, IE, Firefox to see if that made a difference and none of them did.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Robert

You need to make sure to open the file in Adobe Reader (or Acrobat). Chrome and Firefox use an internal PDF plugin which might be the reason why it's not working there. It should work in IE, provided you have the Adobe plugin installed and set up to view PDF files.

It was Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat that we tried to open it with - many times. We get the option to select Adobe Reader when in Chrome and we did select Reader.

What I'm also concerned with is that when we do deploy this, most people will not go through the hassles to use this online form.

Still having the issue.

Can you share the file in question (via Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.)?

I'd be happy to share it with you - do I need to email that or how do I initiate the share? I don't use Dropbox much, but it is installed if I knew how to share it - I though I needed an email address to do that?

I did save a couple of screen shots.

I also posted a very simple form with a button so you can see what I'm talking about - http://apthomepage6.com/test6a.pdf  - this is a two question form with a "Submit" button. I saved it via Reader Extended PDF (the original was test6.pdf).

The final forms (6 of them) will look something like this - http://www.apthomepage6.com/employment-application-leasing-agent.pdf

Does any of this help? Let me know about how to get you onto the screen shots on drop box.

Thank YOU for your assistance!

You have to enter something into the URL field of the Submit command.

If you want the file to be submitted by email you need to enter something like this:

mailto:me@server.com

I have the same issue, no matter how I pressed button many times, the PDF Completed document didn't show. It's really hopeless. 😞
