Using Adobe API with C# for PDF generation

Hi,

I have a scenario, where I would like to use Adobe API. My query is that does Adobe support the below scenarios -

1. I would be using C# for generating multiple PDF from an HTML template.

2. Once the PDF is generated. It will be manually signed by a digital pen in a signing device will be integrated to the PDF.

          NOTE: since it is a legal document, digital signature is not valid not scanning is valid. so it has to be done manually by a digital pen in touch screen.

          I have already solution for the signing .

3. My problem is after the pdf is signed. I have to add some more content to the pdf file. in the specific place.(I have put place holder in the HTML template)

4. Then merge multiple pdf in to one single pdf.

So basically, I want to create, edit, merge pdf using c# and Adobe API.

Please, can anybody let me know the if it is feasible using Adobe API. (It is for a web application hosted in IIS)

Modifying a legal document after signing seems odd. I mention this because it’s important to have your legal team check it, and mistakes have been made in the past. Digital signatures are legally binding in some countries and woul forbid this.

By Modification, what I meant is that -

After the signature, I need to integrate the date and time of the signature.

So it's not the Adobe API.  Adobe is a big company with lots of products. Do You mean the Acrobat SDK? or do you mean the InterApplication Interface?  Or a different SDK? there are a bunch.

So have you read any of the SDK documentation?

Next, you say you want this to work in a server App?  Then you either want the LiveCycle Server SDK that Bernd mentioned, or you want the PDF Library, which is s DataLogics product. There are many other 3rd Party tools/libraries as well for server side creation and manipulation.

You talk about both creating the PDF and an integrated workflow. The Acrobat SDK can be used for a desktop workflow.  If you have a desktop app created with C#, then you can use the IAC.

Sorry for the confusion. (API Vs SDK).

I have very limited knowledge about Adobe products, so I am raising this query.

Yes a SDK is fine, which provides some API, which I can use in my code library to help me generate PDF as well as modifying and merging.

I know there are lot of open source available in the web for use. But the client I am working with does not encourage use of open source tool for production applications. So I am looking for some licensed SDK.

Datalogics is Adobe's official vendor for selling their PDF library:

There are also several 3rd party (Not Open Source) libraries and products for creating and modifying PDFs on a server. Many of these are much easier to use than the full PDF Library, and specifically designed to implement workflows like the one you've described.  Such as ActivePDF and Foxit. But there are many more.
