Why does Acrobat Reader REQUIRE a log in to view PDF?

Every intereaction I have with Adobe products is ANNOYING.

I open a PDF with Acrobat Reader on the Mac.  It works fine for about 30 seconds.  Then I get a log in nag screen which I can't close.

I'm just trying to read  a PDF

I already hate Adobe products because of the way they take complete control of your computer with background processes

Double plus hate you more, Adobe

Adobe give free products in the hope of selling you stuff. Seems fair.
