Workflow / Signature - how do I edit a PDF?

Hi all,

First time here - given all the remote work these days, does Adobe have the functionality to edit or make comments to a doucment when document was sent for signature?  For example, if I was sent a document for signature, but didn't want to sign because of needed edits, could I edit that PDF and send it back to my assistant to revise?

Acrobat will edit a PDF... but I don't know if it will work with a PDF that is ready to be signed
