I’m trying to convert some PDFs to Word format using Acrobat Pro DC 2015 (Build 15.7.20033.133275) on macOS 10.13.6, and all too often it simply refuses to do it. Most of the time it will claim that it can’t save the file because it’s in use, even though it can’t be in use because it doesn’t exist yet. Other times it will give that error and save a file, but you can't actually open that file unless you have some Text Recovery application which Microsoft provides no link for.
Doesn’t matter what I name the file, it just usually refuses to create one. Sometimes, without warning it will actually do it, but there’s no pattern or common theme to those occurrences.
What’s the problem, and how can it be resolved? I can’t upgrade to a newer version, and this one used to work just fine, but now it doesn’t, so there must be some bugs that haven’t been disclosed or fixed. If so, then Adobe needs to issue a patch for those bugs.

Hi foxm20753782,
Thank you for reaching out.
The Acrobat version you are using is a very old version. You may or may not experience issues with this version. We would suggest to use the latest version of the application.
Did you try converting the PDFs to Word and see if you experienced any issues? If not, please try.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

What part of that sentence isn't clear? Did you actually read what I wrote? Apparently not, because I clearly stated that I was trying to convert PDFs to Word; yet you asked me if I had tried doing that.
You want me to use a newer version that I can't use because there is no newer version for my operating system. Think I should get a new computer so I can upgrade? Send me the money (at least $3,000) and I'd be happy to do it.
If not, then you need to fix the problems. This is your software; don't expect users to upgrade to a newer version just because you don't want to fix problems what you've known about but were too lazy to fix for that version.

Hi foxm20753782,
Sorry about the typo earlier. What I mean to say was try converting PDF to Word using the Acrobat Online account using the same PDF that shows issues on desktop version.
Also, the version you are using is the base version. Try to check if the update is available for your OS. In Acrobat, go to Help > Check for updates.
Please share the OS version on your machine. It will help us to provide you the right information. You may also refer to the following page to check the information on updates and system requirements for each version: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

I can convert PDF to Word online, but I shouldn’t have to when the functionality is supposed to work in Acrobat Pro. I'm not using the Base version; it's Acrobat Pro and the function is built in; there is no need for any other version (that doesn't exist) to perform a built-in function.
As I said originally, I'm running macOS 10.13.6 and I can't go any higher, so any update is not available to me. Adobe needs to learn to support their products if they want me or anyone else to pay money for them.
