Adobe Acrobat DC Error

My Adobe Acrobat DC failed with the following error:

An error has been detected with a required application library or file and the product

cannot continue. Please reinstall the application.

I tried to check for updates or repairs prior to this and once that was done the error above occurred.

I removed Acrobat DC and reinstalled it only to have the error reappear.

Any suggestions for remedy would be appreciated.
