I would like to convert a pdf to Excel format since it has tables in it. How do I do that?

I just [purchased the converted and did my first pdf to excel (2010). It was a mess. data was in cells, but not all in the same column. Some columns were merged, justification was all over the place. The word to fix it is not worth the effort. Entering the data by hand is faster. Is this what I am to expect?

Hi john344,
It really depends on the quality of the PDF file that you're converting to Excel. If the PDF was written by a third-party app (something other than Acrobat), then it might not be written well and have the tags necessary to ensure a clean conversion.
Best,

Sara,
Thanks for getting back to me on this. If that’s the case then I don’t need to utility I signed up for. If there is any high percentage of these so called inferior apps then it makes this too hit and miss.
Thanks
John

Hi John,
I understand your position. There are numerous apps that create PDF files these days, and some do a better job than others.

Sara,
I tried several pdf conversions to excel form a variety of sources. None came over correctly. Some merged columns, other shifted rows and ALL had significant out of the table format merging issues. This will not work for me. Please cancel my subscription.
Thanks for your help. Sorry this didn’t work out.
