It has not been password protected by me. It was a document created in Quickbooks. It's been downloaded to my PC and when the PDF is opened it doesn't ask me for a password. However, when I try to convert it, it tells me it's password protected! If I look in the bar at the top of the open document, it states (SECURED) in brackets at the top. As I have stated, I have not created a password for these documents. The first I knew about this was when I tried to turn one into a PDF. Please can anyone help. Been on to Adobe chat and they say only the forum can help, they cannot!????

Hi Sharons,

As per the description given above, your document is not password protected and it doesn't ask for the password to open it, but when you try to convert it, it gives message that its password protected.

This happens when document's security itself doesn't allow the extraction. While creating the document, there were security settings applied to it, which doesn't require password to open it but requires password to Edit or Print.

Please find the description in screenshot shared below-

Hi Sharons,

Please find the description in screenshot shared below-

You can navigate to the following settings to get the security properties. Open PDF>right click"Document Properties">Security> check whether "Changing the document" or "Page Extraction" is allowed or not.

Solution: As you have mentioned that document was created by you, so if you own the document's right then you can change the "Security Settings" following Open PDF>right click"Document Properties">Security> Security Method>Change settings

Hope this answers your question.

Thanks,

Akanchha
