I've paid for converter and the documents convert but I can't edit them? Help!

Hello, When I pull up the Word version that I converted I need it to be a template that can be updated. When I click on a section on the first page it gives me to box around the entire page with the resize boxes on each side so I'm not able to click on just one line of text to change anything. I've just discovered that the second page IS editable. Wonder why that is?? When I try to convert to Excel it only gives less than one page of the 2-page document.

I bet I have to have Adobe Read/Write and I just have Reader. Do you think that might be the reason?

Never mind, that doesn't make sense since page 2 is editable. It's just a continuation of page 1, no difference in format.
