We are a document scanning Company in the UK, we send PDF's offshore for indexing and we get them back, (using Filezilla) increasingly we are finding more and more corrupted. We run a 'synchronise' check using WinSCP, but unfortunately the corruptions are not fixed. The 'Corrupt' PDF's open OK in WIN8 (PDF X-Change), however they will not open in Win 7. To correct the corrupt PDF's we literally rotate the PDF's in PDF X-Change and then save them. This seems to solve the issue, however I am puzzled as to why this is, anyone know anything?
Hi Lan,
I can understand your concern, however it is difficult to recognize the cause of corruption of pdf file. It can be due to :-
However, certain methods to repair the pdf can work like the one you mentioned above.

Thanks Aadesh,
This doesn't really address the issue, how can a corrupt PDF be OK on Win 8 and not OK on Win 7?
I do understand the causes of corruption, perhaps I should have made this a little clearer
Cheers
Ian

Hi Ian,
If I read your questions correctly, you're both creating and then attempting to open/view the PDF files using non-Adobe software. I'm not sure what help this forum can be in that case. Perhaps I don't fully understand your workflow?

Hi Bob,
I feel I am not getting my message across to the forum. We are a document scanning Company and create PDF images from paper documents using our scanners, which are Inotec's using Scamax software. PDF/A is an output format this scanner/software offers, along with Tiff, JPEG etc etc. Generally the images are fine, however, in some cases we send them off-shore via FTP for indexing (to Poland). once indexed they are returned to us via FTP. I accept that during transmission, the images could get corrupted, so we run a 'synchronise' check against file size to correct this. However, recently we have noticed that a number of PDF's created by our scanners, will open in Win 8, (either Adobe viewer or PDF X-change) but NOT in Win 7, so given that we perform final checks in Win8 and that the majority of our clients still run Win7 PC's it can give rise to customer complaints, i.e. they can't view a PDF. As I said in an earlier thread, to correct this, we just rotate the PDF concerned and then save it, which seems to work. What I am trying to establish is if there is any process or software out there that will enable us to check the PDF's for corruption before we send them to our cistomers?

Hi Ian,
I'm sorry that you're having trouble, but this forum is for users of the Adobe's Document Cloud services. You're using non-Adobe software to produce, transmit, index, and otherwise process these files, so it's not possible for us to diagnose what's happening or offer solutions for resolving them. If the files open fine in Win7 machines prior to the indexing step, but not afterwards, then I suggest you contact the company that is providing that service for advice. On the other hand, if the files are not openable on Win7 machines prior to that step, then you should work with Scamax on it.
