Lock comments on PDF uploaded to Adobe Document Cloud?

Is it possible to lock or stop additional comments from being added to a PDF that has been uploaded to Adobe Document Cloud?

I use Adobe Document Cloud to share PDF documents with my customers so they can add feedback. Once they have completed this, I would like to 'lock' the PDF to stop it from being edited further.

Is this possible? I've tried to 'unshare' the document and re-upload it with 'commenting' disabled, but this means that none of the previous comments are visible. I want my customers to see the previous comments, but not allow them to add any more after an agreed cut-off point.

Thanks, i 🙂

Hi @Iain Fisher

Thanks for reaching out.

When initiating a shared review and commenting is allowed. You cannot lock or stop the additional comment on the existing shared file. Either end users can comment, or they don't.

To stop the commenting, the file needs to be Unshared.

Sadly, it's not, as this is the limitation. After deleting or Unsharing the file that users can't see it or get access to the document.

If you re-upload it and disable the commenting, then the source of the file will be changed, and it will start from scratch, like sharing a new file.

Thanks,

Akanchha

How do you disable commenting on uploaded files?  I drag and drop PDFs into outlook to email. It asks if I want to send as a cloud link, and I do that for big files, but I don't want them to be commented on at all.

Hi Stephen31322927ohrc,

Thank you for reaching out.

If the file is already uploaded, there is no option to remove the comment feature from the uploaded file. When you share the PDF, ensure you disable the radio button for comments.

For more information, refer to the following help document: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/sharing-pdfs.html

You may share your suggestion on this with the team via the following help page: https://acrobat.uservoice.com/forums/590923-acrobat-for-windows-and-mac.

Thanks,
