Redaction tool removing remaining text

New Here ,
Apr 14, 2025 Apr 14, 2025

I am using the redaction tool in Acrobat for legal documents. Each time I click on 'apply' the redaction, the tool removes text that was not highlighted for redaction. I have printed docs to PDF before redacting, tried sanitising and not sanitising the documents, before starting redaction and afterwards and I am at a loss!
I am applying the redaction tool with pressing ctrl first to accurately highlight and have kept these margins as small as possible to avoid overlap but still large amounts of text are being erased. I have only noticed this half way through my review which is really frustrating! Can anyone suggest a fix please?

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

Have you started experiencing this issue recently, or was it there earlier as well? What is the version of the Acrobat App and the OS you are using? To check the version of the app, Go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure its updated to the latest version 25.01.2043X go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs, please try with a different PDF file and check.

Also share a small video recording of the steps you are taking and the issue as it occurs along with a sample PDF file so we can get the checked further.

Regards
Amal

Thanks. It is version 2025.001.20435 and no updates available - I uninstalled and reinstalled yesterday to see if that fixed the issue (it didn't!).
It is doing it on all PDF files. I haven't needed to do any redacting for a while but I don't remember it doing this last time I had to redact something.
I'm not sure how to take a video but you will hopefully see the issue from the documents attached. I am selecting the text for editing by holding control and dragging the cursor. I am unable to double click words to highlight for redaction as I have previously been able to do. If I try to double click I get large random areas of redaction (which don't correspond to the removed text).
Thanks.

Hello,

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for sharing additional details.

Could you please check if this is still happening with the latest version of Acrobat 25.001.20474 (Win), Apr 28, 2025? Please install the latest build from Menu > Help > Check for updates, restart the machine and check. If the issue continues, please share the diagnostic logs for the error workflow at your end to investigate further.
1. Download and run Diagnostics utility https://adobe.ly/3GtjjzB
2. Select Start Diagnostics.
3. Now Open Acrobat, execute your file, and see the issue.
4. Select Stop Monitoring, and share the log ID with us.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
