autofilling/auto-complete incorrect fields

I have a reoccurring issue that I'd love some help with.  I work with an employment agency and when we bring on new hires we send them their new hire paperwork through Adobe Sign.  This is usually 4-5 Library Templates that we send for signature through 1 email.  Ends up being about 51 pages of material when it's all together.

The first document that folks complete is an "employee info" sheet where they put in their address, phone, banking info, emergency contact, etc.

Later on in the process they have to complete an I-9 form.  For some reason the program is Pre-filling/Auto-filling/Auto-completing the I-9 form with information off the Employee Info sheet.  Which wouldn't be a big deal, except it's pulling the wrong info (SS number is prefilled with a bank routing number, etc.).

Is this an auto-fill function that I can turn off?  I have run several tests on several different computers and am confident this is not a browser setting.  Also, since these are separate library templates that were built and uploaded at different times I'm not sure how these fields are being linked to eachother.  All fields are text boxes.

Thanks!

In the Adobe Sign system, all fields on a document will have a name.  The name can be any value, and if you build your forms using the drag and drop interface, they will have generic names like “TextField1”. On a per form basis, Adobe Sign ensures that each field is uniquely named.

As a labor saving function, all fields with the same name will contain the same content.

So if you have a field for the signers Social Security Number, and you name that field “SSN1”, you can use that same field name on every occurrence of the social security number for that signer. This potentially saves the signer a huge amount of time by not entering the same content multiple times.

The problem you are most likely having is that your forms were built in the drag and drop environment (or using a tool that also applies a generic name for the field).  And each new form has a field named “TextField1”.

When you combine multiple forms, the fields become cross linked.  So if on the first form “TextField1” is supposed to capture the Signers address, and on the next form you use “TextField1” to capture the Signers phone number, you will get what you are seeing. Changing any one of the field’s content will re-populate all of the other fields with that new content.

Someone in Adobe Sign Support that can assess your account settings will be best in position to verify this situation, but if the above sounds like it may apply to you, then there are two solutions:

The first is to have the cross file field linking disabled.  This will prevent field population across forms. The cost is, your signer will have to fill in every field. It’s a bummer, but it’s something that fixes the problem in the moment, and new Agreements wont populate fields across files.  Support will have to do this for you.

The follow-up solution involves establishing a naming convention for your field names, and then renaming all of the fields on your existing library documents to adhere to that name convention.  This is more work on your part, but once done, you can re-enable cross file field linking, and give your signer a better experience.

Yes!  That sounds exactly like what I'm experiencing.  I'd love to have Support help me turn that functionality off, but not sure how to connect with them.  Last time I tried to figure out how to contact someone all I could find was a message that my account only gets access to the support forums--couldn't track down a phone number or email address for tech support.

Any advice on that front?
