Our company sends out multiple documents to vendors/customers that require more than one digital signature. On the original document it is setup for the vendors to sign and then the document comes back to us for that final signature. We are noticing that when there are multipe signagures (3 or more) signed on the document that when it comes back, the final signature that we would sign is locked and we cannot sign. This is happening with an entire department and it is causing a great deal of manual work to get around this. Going out, the none of the signature spaces are locked, so it is puzzling why this would happen.
Is there some kind of setting that we are missing that can change this behavior?

When signing a PDF, Adobe Reader offers that you can lock the document in the process:
Is it possible that in your multiple signature use case some signer has the habbit of clicking that check box?

That is a thought that I had as well, and we are following up on this. Thanks!

If this indeed turns out to be the case, there might be a solution to prevent this: There is a signature field seed value LockDocument supplying the author’s intent for whether the signing dialogue should allow the user to lock the document at the time of signing. Depending on the signing software in use by the person locking the document it may suffice to set that seed value and the associated seed Ff bit accordingly in your form to stop that behavior.

Hi OttoKriedeman,
Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the delay in response.
As MikelKlink suggested, please check with the last signer of the document if he is locking the document when adding a digital signature to the document. That seems to be the reason it gets locked.
If that is not the case, please let us know how you send the document? Share the step by steps workflow.
It would be helpful to share a video of the complete workflow with a sample document.
Thanks,
Meenakshi
