Form formatting bug with request signature - Differences between Desktop and Adobe Doc Cloud

I am experiencing a form formatting issue with the request for signature process. When the Acrobat desktop program is used to request a signature, it causes the form to lose all formating (date, font size, number formats) and all fillable fields turn yellow (during the specify signature phase). We can edit the values in the fields at this point but that is just additional info for the post and not a problem for us.

When we upload the form to adobe doc cloud and request a signature; the form formatting remains intact, but no fields are editable. Thats ok we do not need to edit the values at this point but the formatting stays in place which is what we want.

So this method works, but why not the desktop process? Whats the difference?

I worked with an adobe tech and they concluded that we had to use the cloud to request signatures.

I know there are field formatting tags but that seems more advanced than our group of users can handle. and also it works on the cloud. So the preference is to just get the process ironed out for the desktop.

Also its not the form we are using, I created a simple 3 field sample and had the same results with the latest version of acrobat pro dc (2021.001.20135)

Is there anything we can do to lock the form on the desktop first and then request a signature?

Ive tried every variation and method and only this works

On the doc cloud> click the file and then click Fill and Sign>then click share>then Request a Signature

That process will "lock" the form and then keeps the formatting intact when specifiying where the signature field goes.

Below are pictures of the form fields in each state, when the form is first filled out and then the specifiy signature phase for the desktop vs the cloud.

I think this is a bug, I tried various versions of acrobat and still have the same result.

Any help with this nightmare would be greatly appreciated!!
