Need to disable user account so they can sign documents even though they do not need to send or create them

I am running in to issues with account management for our groups. There are several accounts that were created where the users are deciding that they do not really need to create documents, but they still need the ability to sign documents that other users create and send to them.

The problem I am running in to is that as soon as I deactivate the user account, they are no longer able to sign a document that is sent to them. Instead, they are being prompted to log in to their EchoSign account, even though it has been deactivated.

This runs counter to the understanding that one doesn't need an account solely to sign a document that is sent to their email account. We do not have enough licenses to simply allow the accounts to remain active when the user isn't planning on using them to send documents.

This seems like I am missing something very basic, as obviously it should be quite simple to change a users permissions from being able to create documents to just being able to sign documents they receive. Please lend me any advice you may have on this.

Hello d0Ryan,

By default, a signer doesn't need an E-Sign account to sign the documents electronically. That being said, if a signer does have an account, then it should be active as inactive accounts cannot provide signatures. In your scenario, if you want, we can remove the users from your account and can convert them to free level so that they can have the ability to esign documents and still does not hold your paid license in your account.

If that suites you, then please inbox me your register
