Select either, or -- but not both

New Here ,

In my Adobe Sign document I have several fields that require the signer to select either A or B and initial beside their choice. Neither A nor B are set as a required field, and both are set so that anyone can initial. When the document is sent for signature, Adobe Sign is requiring initials for both fields. The document is useless as is. How do I fix it?

Greetings!

There are two options I can suggest:

1. Use the Initial fields as the "selector" instead of some field object like check boxes or radio buttons.  Initial fields can be configured to be optional by unchecking the "Required" button. The instructions would be to "Initial beside your choice":

Conditional fields will let you evaluate a field for some value, and then show or hide that field depending on that assessment.

In the below example there is an array of radio buttons. Radio button arrays are assigned a field name (to identify the key field) and a value (to differentiate the individual buttons in the array).  Check boxes will have a field name, and then a True or False value.

Once you have defined the key field, place the initial field, open the properties, and then configure the "Conditions" section to pair up with the key field:
