Why is there an error message when I try to apply a gradient from my library?

Does anyone know why I'm getting this error message when I try to use the gradients from my library in Photoshop? These gradients were created using the replicate gradient tool on the Color.Adobe.com website?

I have tried all the troubleshooting tips:

- update to newest version of Photoshop

- roll back to a previous version

- uninstall and re-install photoshop

- checked to make sure I had the latest OS (I do - MacOS 15 Sequoia)

- close everything and restart computer

- reset and restore to default preferences/settings

- log out of iCloud account after un-syncing then re-syncing

- contacted Adobe support who used Adobe client on my computer to see the problem for themselves

- delete gradients from library and then create new ones.
- Asked a friend to see if they get the same error message on their computer. They did and even followed the same troubleshooting methods as me and checked that their system was up to date. They have a windows pc, I have an Mac.

- Only the gradients in my library receives this error message. PNG images saved in my library do not. Neither do any of the other library resources. Same goes for my friend.

- also preformed the troubleshooting suggestion on the Adobe webpage after clicking the "Learn how to fix" option from the error message including granting Photoshop full disc access, checking all drivers are up to date including re-installing graphics driver, disabled generator, turned off GPU acceleration, installed and ran the diagnostic plugin and gave findings to Adobe tech advisor, etc.

Has this feature ever worked? Has anyone experienced this before? Does anyone have any solutions?

Hey @jhannel

I have my gradients in my gradient section.

On my side I can Import Gradients. Consider importing those gradients that you are looking to add to your library.

Cheers

Hi, thank you for your response.

I am using the color.adobe.com extract gradient feature to create gradients and these can only be saved to my library from the website. There is no other option provided to save the gradients from that website, and because the gradients are then saved to my library; it unfortunately is not saved under the normal .grd gradient extention that can be inported into the gradients section of Photoshop. Instead it is saved as the library extention cclibs (I have tried extracting this file and there is still no .grd file present when extracted), therefore, the only way to get the gradients from my library is to click 'Add to swatch' or 'Apply gradient' from the library. However, this is when I get the error message.

I too get the same error message, but I have a found a way to apply gradients saved to the library from color.adobe.com.

1. From your library, RIGHT click the gradient swatch you want to apply and choose "Get Info" from the context menu. A detailed description of the gradient will appear.

2. Click the three dot menu in the upper right of this panel and choose "Apply gradient" from the menu.

It has worked flawlessly for me, but only from this "Info" panel. It has never worked from the main library menu.
