Can't edit text if not top layer

Adobe Employee ,
Aug 24, 2023 Aug 24, 2023
I am using a template for a festival poster and am trying to edit some of the text elements in the template. If i click on them, i can see that they are text and that they should be editable (the text bar opens) but i cannot replace the text with my own. I had to move the layer to the very top of all the other layers in order to edit it, then put it back in the correct layer order after. This is such a poor user experience, especially considering this is an Adobe owned template.

Please see this post with an explanation of how to edit text, especially lower in the layer stack.

The thread provided (locked) as a solution above does not work.

Did you ever find a solution? It's very frustrating and quite unbelievable Adobe has not addressed this. It makes the title of the software 'EXPRESS' fairly comical....

Could you explain in more detail what difficulties you are running into this solution?

Thanks

Hi @Anthony3370495957ha

Thanks for sharing the video. It's not clear to me if you are following the very last step listed in https://community.adobe.com/t5/adobe-express-discussions/entering-text-editing-mode/m-p/14035673#M10...

  • then hit the Enter key on the keyboard

If not, could you please try that?

Thanks

Abhi G

Abhi.G @ ADBE , you are correct; I was not hitting enter on the keyboard. That solved it, thank you!
