Hi! Sorry that you are experiencing this issue and thank you for reporting it.
Are you working on a Chromebook or on a Windows machine? How are you trying to duplicate the object, pressing Alt and moving on the canvas or from the context menu -> Duplicate? We have a fix under way for Alt and drag text duplication that should be available in the following days. In the mean time, as a workaround, the text should become visible if you are trying to edit it.
