Image replacement is harder now

I was using your free version to make YouTube thumbnails. I logged in this morning and had lost much of the ability to edit text and, more importantly, images. I upgraded to the paid version, and that didn't solve it. It looks like I no longer have the ability to replace your stock image with a picture I took to create YouTube thumbnails, and that is a major downgrade. I can still upload the photo I want to use, but it puts it on top of the old photo in a weirdly blocky way. It is also much harder to duplicate the perfectly good thumbnails and simply insert the new picture on the existing format. I am disappointed in your changes.

Hi,

I agree image replaement is a bit confusing/inconsistent in the new version of Express. We are working on improving this behavior. For now:

  • For images that you can move around freely (i.e,. are not set as page background) there should be a replace button when you select the image (top of the image panel on the left)

  • For images that are set as page background, however, this button is disabled. As you've observed, you can still upload images but they end up on top the background image you wish to replace. If you find yourself in this situation, you should have a "Replace page background" button in the Image panel when the new image is selected.

Finally, if you select any image from Elements > Backgrounds in the left side bar, it will automatically become the background image. You can do this repeatedly to try our collection of stock background images

Hope this helps,

Abhi G

Abhi.G @ ADBE yes, the replace image button is there but it doesn't allow you to select from your brand content or already uploaded media, only to newly upload media from your computer. This is super problematic.

Agreed, @Marijke288531297g6r. We are working on bridging this gap.

So damn frustrating now trying to replace an image, even after a year of using Adobe Express. I abandoned my project after a hour of blood-curldling stress. I hope to find a different content creator tool for my next endeavor.

Here it is months later and the problem is still there. But only intermittently. So damn frustrating.
