Off center text shape

I added a shape to my text. I dont know if its the font or something, but the shape is not centered to the text and there's no way of moving the text within the shape.

If you select both your text and the shape, can you click on Align at the top to center them to each other?

If not, would you be able to add a screenshot of what you're seeing?
