Stuck in dark mode on Windows 11

New Here ,
Nov 09, 2025 Nov 09, 2025

Both of my browsers are in light mode.  Windows 11 is in light mode.  Adobe Express is stuck in dark mode and I can't read the text (everything has not switched properly).

I have gone to the settings where my icon picture is and see only 4 choices, none for the theme.  How do I switch the theme so that I can read the page?  Thank you.

Thank you for your prompt response.  There is nothing to record.  I open the app.  It is dark when it is opened and after using the "+" button, it is dark and unreadable.  Here are the screenshots.

Here is the Settings Page.  Hard to read, but I don't see any "theme" type of setting.settings.png

Hi @kimbriggsdotcom,

Thank you for sharing the screenshots — this really helps us understand the issue 😔. It looks like Adobe Express is not correctly detecting your system’s light mode.

We’ve shared your case with our engineering team so they can investigate the dark mode behavior on Windows 11. In the meantime, please try opening the app in a different browser or an incognito/private window to see if the display behaves correctly.

We’ll keep you updated as soon as we have any news. Thanks for your patience!

Hi @kimbriggsdotcom

Can you please try the method below:

Press Windows key+R to open Run then copy and paste the path below to open the old Personalization.

shell:::{ED834ED6-4B5A-4bfe-8F11-A626DCB6A921}

Press Enter

Under Windows default, select Windows or Windows (light)

Restart your computer.

Please let us know how it goes.

I entered the text as described and it took me to the Personalization page, so I set the them to light again.  The Adobe program was dark, but changed so that I could not read the text (white text on dark background).  I used the refresh button and got a page with mixed results.  Please know I am happy to use the web interface, as I only gain about the space of my bookmarks row.  I'm not going to be working on this any more.  Thank you.Screenshot 2025-11-12 203615.png

Hi @kimbriggsdotcom

The issue you’re experiencing is a known problem on Windows, and you’re not the only user affected. Many Microsoft users have reported the same behavior, as seen in these links:

You can reach out to Microsoft directly, but in the meantime, here are some steps that might help:

  • Reset the Adobe Express app: Settings → Apps → Adobe Express → Advanced Options → Reset.

  • Reinstall the app: Uninstall, then download the latest version from the Microsoft Store.

  • Check Accessibility settings: Settings → Accessibility → Contrast Themes → None.

  • Force Light Mode via Registry: Open regedit → navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes\Personalize → set AppsUseLightTheme and SystemUsesLightTheme to 1.

Please try these steps and let us know if they help. We completely understand how frustrating this has been and appreciate your patience!
